In Qigong, Summer is the season of the Heart, and the animal is the Red or Fire Phoenix. The Summer Solstice is a time to embrace the virtuous qualities of the heart – order, peace, joy, and tranquility as Summer returns to the Northern Hemisphere.
This sacred time represents the rising and reappearance of the light and heat of the sun for the longest period of daylight hours. The Latin word, sol means sun and sistere means to stand still, so it is the day the sun ascends to its highest peak and appears to stand still.
